The eastern coastal codfish travel to Gadeok and Jinhae Bay of the southern coast as they follow the cold water stratum of the winter season to lay eggs. The Gadeokdo sea area is a place where cold water, warm water, and the brackish water of Nakdong River come together and as such, has an ecosystem that is rich in food for codfish. In terms of the skin complexion of codfish, the eastern coast codfish has grayish brown back while Gadeok codfish carries purple complexion and has dark grayish brown color. Traditionally, codfish was considered to be the best of all meat foods. From old days, codfish was believed to be a dietary supplement and to help with hangover, so much so that it was presented to the king as a tribute from the country. Hence, it has been appealing to the palates of epicures and displays a high scarcity value. Also, one cannot see a live codfish unless it is a Gadeok codfish.

Hen clams live on the floor that is mixed with sand and mud, from the intertidal zone to a water depth of 10m. They usually lay eggs in the months of May and June. They are eaten and constitute an important kind of shellfish for the fishing industry. The time for gathering them is from December to April of the following year, and they are farmed within the Gangseogu office precincts. It belongs to the Bivalvia variety, the height of its crust is approximately 6.5cm, its length is approximately 9cm, and its width is approximately 4cm. The crust is a slightly circular type triangle and is thin, and the growth line is clearly displayed on the surface, and as one moves to the margins, it becomes progressively thicker and takes on the form of a growth line. The crust is covered with yellowish brown cuticle, and from the umbo, many lines of light brown bands stretch out in a radial shape. This radial shaped band disappears when the clam fully matures. The inner surface of the crust is white in color and the mantle line is circular and deeply indented. The water pipe is long, and the flesh is reddish tangerine color and males have darker complexion. There is one main teeth, which though very small has a dark brownish cartridge belt. The side teeth are as sharp as a knife blade, and there are two on the front and two on the back of the right side crust and one on the left side crust.

Pelecypoda of mollusk, order unionoida and family liliaceae. In terms of its habitat, it lives in marsh area covered with sand and mixed with pebbles, from the intertidal zone to a water depth of 20m. The crust is random circular shape and is expanded. Its length is approximately 40cm, its height is about 30mm, and a large one can have a crust length of even 60mm. The rib ridge on the surface of the crust is strong on its front and back area and crisscrosses with the growth line to form a netted venation.
The color varies significantly, and there are those which have different left and right angles. There are three main teeth on the surface of the head area, and there is a comparatively large indentation for the mantle line. Young clams have lower level of expansion and using its glue like substance, live attached to stones. The clams lay eggs from early summer to early autumn, and they mate twice, once in May and the other during October and November. Because propagation and growth take place rapidly, they are also farmed. 0.5~5kg can be harvested per 1, they grow for one year, and their length grows by 1.5~1.6 times and their weight by 2.9~3.5 times. During low tide, they appear above the surface for 4~5 hours, and marsh area with a lot of sand and pebbles is an ideal habitat for them. Although they can be prepared as salted clam or cooked live for consumption, there is a risk of poisoning during the breeding season from late spring to early summer, when it is better to avoid them completely. They live in sandy marsh mixed with pebbles situated between the intertidal zone of Inland sea or semi enclosed bay and a water depth of 20m. Since, the detoxification function of the liver is promoted due to the taurine that is found in its flesh, when one is drinking or on the day after alcoholic consumption, use it with the broth to chase a hangover to secure the effect of preventing liver infection and of eliminating hangover. In terms of pregnant women, children, and the elderly, the clam h elps prevent anemia because of its high mineral content, helps prevent obesity because it is readily digested and absorbed, and helps keep the skin smooth. Shellfish varieties contain components that suppress absorption of cholesterol by the body and works effectively to lower the body's cholesterol level.
